Course Details

The BRCGS is a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized scheme. The Consumer Products Standard includes both the General Merchandise, and Personal Care and Household Standards.

This course will give a clear understanding of the protocol and requirements of the Global Standard for Consumer Products Issue 4 – either Personal Care and Household or General Merchandise – including audit planning and the events during and after the audit.

Course Aim

This training provides the knowledge and skills required to implement the requirements of the BRCGS Global Standard for Consumer Products Issue 4 on site, and prepare for a BRCGS audit.

How will I benefit?

This course will teach the requirements of Issue 4, and what is involved in the BRCGS audit, enabling delegates to implement the Standard effectively on site.

What will I learn?

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the background and benefits of the Standard
  • Understand the details of the scheme including audit scope and planning for the audit
  • Implement the requirements of the Standard, including fundamental clauses and statements of intent
  • Understand how an audit is closed, what corrective actions are and how certificates are issued
  • Know about different audit options available at Foundation and Higher Level
  • Understand the current compliance monitoring of certification bodies by BRCGS
  • Access support and resources supplied by BRCGS including BRCGS Participate, the BRCGS Directory and BRCGS Bookshop

Your learning shall be supported and accelerated by one of BSI’s competent and experienced trainers.

What will I gain?

Certificate of attendance is issued on completion of the course. Delegates can choose to take the Understanding Requirements exam following the course (25 questions, pass mark 60%) – if successful you will be awarded with a BRCGS Global Standard for Consumer Products Understanding the Requirements certificate.

Prerequisites

Delegates should download and read BOTH copies of the Global Standard for Consumer Products Issue 4 (General Merchandise, and Personal Care and Household Standards) before attending this course. The Standard is available from www.brcgsbookshop.com 

Please note: You’ll be undertaking live, web-based search activities, so you will need to bring along your laptop, tablet or smart device.

Course Materials

Soft Copy: You will receive an email prior to the course with instructions on how to access the online Student Handbook, which can be viewed, downloaded or printed.

NOTE: Copies of the standards are not included in the class fee.

BSI will make reasonable efforts to have loaner copies available for use during the class, but students are encouraged to have their own copy. Soft copies of the digital loaner standard cannot be printed or downloaded.
