The aim of this course is to provide underpinning knowledge for the management of workplace transport risks (ISO 39001).

Transport of dangerous goods
This module deals with transport of dangerous goods hazards.
After taking this module you will:
• know about various hazards arising out of transporting dangerous goods
• understand why transporting dangerous goods is a hazard
• be familiar with some types of harm that can be caused by transporting dangerous goods
• be able to describe some controls that can help prevent hazards relating to transporting dangerous goods

Workplace transport
This module deals with workplace transport hazards.
After taking this module you will:
• know what is covered by workplace transport
• understand how hazards arise with workplace transport
• be familiar with the types of harm that workplace transport hazards can cause
• be able to describe some controls that can help reduce or eliminate workplace transport hazards

Fatigue is defined as extreme tiredness resulting from mental or physical exertion, lack of quality sleep, or disruption to the circadian rhythms. It is one of the most widespread of all workplace hazards – it literally occurs in every industry all over the world.

Remote, isolated & lone working
This module deals with remote, isolated, and lone working.
After taking this module you will:
• know what is covered by the term lone working
• understand how hazards arise with working alone
• be familiar with the types of harm that working alone can give rise to
• be able to describe how a range of controls can be used to manage lone working risks

Shift work and fatigue
This module deals with shift work and fatigue hazards.
After taking this module you will:
• know about the various causes of fatigue in the workplace
• understand why shift work and fatigue can be a workplace hazard
• be familiar with some types of harm caused by fatigue in the workplace
• be able to describe some controls that can help prevent fatigue hazards in the workplace.

Noise
Noise can be defined as unwanted or unpleasant sound. In this topic we will look at some of the causes of noise in the workplace, the types of harm it can cause, and controls that will minimize or eliminate noise hazards.
This module deals with noise hazards.
After taking this module you will:
• know what sort of sounds can be classified as noise
• understand how noise can be a hazard
• be familiar with the types of harm that noise can cause
• be able to describe some controls that can help reduce or eliminate noise hazards

Vibration
Vibration is defined as a continuous slight shaking movement, or a series of small, fast movements back and forth or from side to side. Where they cannot be eliminated, a variety of other controls are available that can help reduce the impact of vibration hazards
This module deals with vibration hazards.
After taking this module you will:
• know about the various causes of vibration hazards in the workplace
• understand why vibration is a workplace hazard
• be familiar with some types of harm caused by vibration in the workplace
• be able to describe some controls that can help prevent vibration hazards in the workplace.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites, however it will be useful for delegates to read the standard before attending the course.
