IATF16949 places even more emphasis on employee and internal/second party auditor understanding of the relevant Automotive Core Tools, namely APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and PPAP.
Evidence has shown that this is a common area for nonconformities in external third party audits to IATF 16949, with over 20,000 nonconformities raised globally in 2016 related to lack of effective implementation of the tools! For organizations to release people for training for a day or more is becoming increasing difficult.
The videos are suitable for anybody in an organization who uses or interfaces with any of the tools, including operators, supervisors, quality engineers, managers, and internal/second party auditors.
While the videos can be viewed in any order and revisited as often as needed, we would suggest the following pattern:
- Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) - APQP provides an internationally recognized best practice structure to effectively introduce new products and processes. This video introduces the structure of APQP and the phases of implementation.
- Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) - FMEA is a structured process to evaluate risks in a manufacturing process, and then take effective action to minimize the risks to ensure customer and interested party requirements are met. This video introduces the purpose of PFMEA and the key steps in establishing and maintaining a PFMEA.
- Control Plan - Once the risks are understood in the manufacturing process, all the controls necessary to ensure manufacture or a conforming product are captured in a Control Plan. This video introduces the purpose of Control Plans and their structure and content.
- Measurement System Analysis (MSA): Variable Equipment Gauge R and R - Whereas most people have an understanding of the purpose of calibration, many do not understand the concept of Measuring System Analysis (MSA). This video introduces how to plan and undertake a MSA study for variable measuring systems using Gauge R and R.
- Measurement System Analysis (MSA): Variable Equipment Gauge R and R: Destructive measurement -Whereas most people have an understanding of the purpose of calibration, many do not understand the concept of Measuring System Analysis (MSA). This video introduces how to plan and undertake a MSA study for variable measuring systems using Gauge R and R where the measurement process is Destructive (part destroyed during measurement).
- Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Bias, Linearity and stability - Whereas most people have an understanding of the purpose of calibration, many do not understand the concept of Measuring System Analysis (MSA). This video introduces the concept of the use of Bias, Linearity and Stabilities studies, including practical examples on how using these concepts can save money and reduce risk of product related issues.
- Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Attribute equipment - Whereas most people have an understanding of the purpose of calibration, many do not understand the concept of Measuring System Analysis (MSA). This video introduces the concept of how to plan and undertake MSA studies for attribute measurement systems, including visual inspection, Go-No go, plug and thread gauges.
- An introduction to SPC - IATF 16949 requires “Statistical concepts, such as variation, control (stability), process capability, and the consequences of over-adjustment, shall be understood and used by employees involved in the collection, analysis, and management of statistical data”. This video is a great tool to help meet this requirement, covering the basics of Statistical Process Control (SPC), including setting up and interpreting statistical charts.
- Process Capability - IATF 16949 requires at any employee involved in the collection, analysis and management of statistical data understand the concept of process capability. This video introduces the concept of process capability including the widely used indicators Cpk and Ppk.
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) - To provide evidence that a manufacturing process can meet all defined customer requirements, organizations are required to prepare a Product Part Approval in accordance with Customer Specific Requirements. This video introduced the structure and content of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), the most widely used framework within the automotive industry.
