Manufacturing waste from the production of antibiotics can contribute to the development of AMR (Anti-Microbial Resistance) in the environment unless emissions from waste streams are effectively controlled. It threatens to undermine the basis of modern medicine by rendering the antibiotics used to treat and prevent infections ineffective.

This course provides the fundamentals of the AMR standard developed by AMRIA and BSI, to help you understand and apply the best practices to get your organization ready for implementation, assessment and certification.

In this self-pace video series, you will explore the key principles that form part of the standard, such as:

  • Sampling and Analysis
  • Zero Liquid Discharge
  • Mass Balance

What will I learn?

  • Who AMRIA is
  • Be able to explain the scope of the standard and how it relates to commercial, human use, as well as API and/or drug product manufacturers
  • The audit process based on the standard
  • An overview of the certification process
  • What is the Sampling and Analysis approach to measuring an established PEC
  • Understanding Zero Liquid Discharge approach in containing aquatic ecotoxicity
  • How to manage antibiotic discharges in waste water using mass balance
  • How to answer important stake holder questions related to AMR
  • About managing your supply chain in compliance with the antibiotic manufacturing standard, as well as your own procurement process

Who should attend?

Senior management, environmental managers, regulatory affairs managers, internal and external auditors, consultants, and anyone involved with the implementation of the standard.

There are no formal prerequisites, however it will be useful for delegates to read the standard before attending the course.
