Course Aim:

Learn about the key requirements, concepts, and the overall process for CE marking under the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED). The CE mark gives access to a market with 500+ million people.

The course will give you an understanding of the key requirements, which will provide:

  • Essential knowledge to understand the basic requirements of the PED in relation to the manufacturer’s obligations.
  • The ability to identify product that is excluded from the PED
  • The ability to determine the Hazard Category for all types of pressure equipment
  • The ability to recognize the importance of all of the Essential Safety Requirements (ESRs) and know that the ESRs are mandatory
  • The ability to understand the specific ESRs associated with material certification and permanent joining

The ability to understand the requirements of the various conformity assessment procedures and the choices available to the manufacturer.

Course Description:

The Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU details the requirements that manufacturers have to meet to place pressure equipment on the market in the European Union.

The PED affects all pressure equipment manufacturers, importers, distributors and authorised representatives. Subcontractors/suppliers may also be affected.

The PED focusses on pressure safety, emphasising Essential Safety Requirements, conformity assessment, quality management aspects, transparency and traceability. The requirements may also affect (supplier) audits; introduce new partners to interact with, and increase communication needs and obligations (e.g. contracts, reporting, documentation, and publication of information).

This course conveys key concepts of the Pressure Equipment Directive. All pressure equipment in Hazard Categories I thru IV will need to undergo a Conformity Assessment Procedure based on PED requirements in order to be placed on the European Union market. You will gain understanding of the requirements stipulated within the PED.
