Overview

ISO 45001 is the global standard for occupational health and safety management systems. The world has seen steady growth in adopting the standard since it was published in March 2018. OSHA is The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, an agency of the United States Department of Labor.  OSHA's mission is to assure safe and healthy working conditions by setting and enforcing standards and providing training, outreach, education and assistance. The Certificate of Recognition program (COR®) is a Canadian occupational health and safety accreditation program that verifies a fully implemented safety & health program which meets Canadian standards.

All these programs promote the health and safety of workers, but what are the differences between the programs and where do they align?  A comparison of ISO 45001, OSHA, and COR® will be valuable to organizations that want to improve their health and safety framework.

Key takeaways and learning objectives

What you will learn in this webinar:

Scope and Framework
•    Overview of the ISO 45001 requirements and clauses.
•    Key elements of OSHA and COR®.
•    The differences between ISO 45001, OSHA, and COR®: how they align and can be used together to fortify your health and safety program.

Compliance and certification
•    How do the schemes differ?
•    What are the requirements to maintain certification?
•    How do the ‘continual improvement’ requirements compare?

Focus and implementation
•    How does the focus of each approach differ?
•    What is the role of top management and worker involvement?
•    What would an implementation plan look like?

By considering these issues, organizations can better understand how each standard or program aligns with their goals, legal requirements, and operational contexts. You’ll be able to create a system that includes the most beneficial features to improve the health and safety of your employees.
