The BSI Training Academy offers Qualification Pathways for those seeking to earn professional qualification from an internationally recognized standards institute. This qualification develops the necessary knowledge and skills to assess and report on the conformance and implementation of an Artificial Intelligence Management System conforming to ISO/IEC 42001 and gain the understanding of the concepts which underpin ISO/IEC 22989:2023 as a normative reference in ISO/IEC 42001:2023. You will learn how to initiate an audit, prepare and conduct audit activities, compile and distribute audit reports and complete follow-up activities. The Professional qualification also includes the Advanced Auditor Skills course, which sharpens the ability to handle complex auditing scenarios. Participants who complete all four courses and successfully pass their respective qualification exams will earn the ISO/IEC 42001 Internal Auditor Professional qualification, symbolized by BSI’s “Mark of Trust” badge.

How will I learn?

This qualification pathway is divided into four separate courses. The first course, Understanding AI Concepts and Terminology training course will cover the key terms, definitions, and concepts needed to understand how AI systems work based upon the ISO/IEC 22989:2023 standard. The second course, ISO 42001:2023 Requirements, will cover the ins and outs of the AI management system standard, and provide an essential foundation for the rest of your auditor training. The third course, ISO 42001:2023 Internal Auditor, walks you through the auditing process from start to finish, leveraging case study to help you apply your knowledge. Finally, the Advanced Auditor course will home in on auditor best practices and teach techniques and methods that will lead to more efficient and effective internal audits.

What will I gain?

On completion of the courses and after passing the four qualifications exams, you will earn BSI’s professional ISO/IEC 42001 internal auditor qualification, including BSI’s Mark of Trust qualification badge, which you can share on your CV, emails, and social media sites such as LinkedIn.  

Delegate assessments

This qualification pathway contains 4 separate exams:

1. ISO/IEC 22989:2023 Understanding AI Concepts AND Terminology Qualification Exam (30 questions, 60 minutes)

2. ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Requirements Qualifications Exam (30 questions, 60 minutes)

3. ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Internal Auditor Qualifications Exam (40 questions, 80 minutes)

4. Advanced Auditing Skills Qualifications Exam (30 questions, 60 minutes)

Online, open book, Pass mark: 70%. Delegates have 30 days from the end of the course to take the exam. 2 attempts are allowed (the initial exam + 1 free re-sit)

Further information

Delegates that complete the individual courses without passing the necessary qualifications exams will still earn receive certificates of attendance.

Course Materials

Soft Copy: You will receive an email prior to the course with instructions on how to access the online Student Handbook, which can be viewed, downloaded or printed.

NOTE: Copies of the standards are not included in the class fee.

BSI will make reasonable efforts to have loaner copies available for use during the class, but students are encouraged to have their own copy. Soft copies of the digital loaner standard cannot be printed or downloaded.
