Course aim
This course aims to introduce the principles and core subjects of sustainable procurement, and how to implement sustainable procurement, based on ISO 20400:2017 guidelines.
The course draws on the latest evidence to consider how the concept of sustainable procurement is developing, how organizations are responding to the challenges and opportunities, and where sustainable procurement is heading.
Course description
This course will introduce learners to sustainable procurement principles and practices, as outlined in existing international guidance, ISO 20400:2017.
The course explains how procurement is impacted by, and impacts on, issues of social, environmental, and economic sustainability.
Examples of sustainable procurement activity covering policy, strategy, and processes are detailed to illustrate how sustainability-related considerations may be implemented, in the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and with reference to current guidance on sustainable procurement, provided in ISO 20400:2017.
