Course Details
Important Enrollment Information
This course is the final step in the ISO 14001 Internal and Lead Auditor Practitioner qualification pathways and is intended to be completed only after the required prerequisite training has been successfully completed. It is designed as a capstone experience in which participants apply and demonstrate the knowledge and skills developed throughout the preceding courses.
Participants should not enroll in this course as a standalone auditor training course if they have not already completed the required ISO 14001:2026 Requirements TPECS course, Internal Auditor TPECS course, and any additional qualification-specific prerequisite modules or possess equivalent knowledge and experience. The capstone does not replace the prerequisite requirements, and successful completion of the capstone alone does not represent completion of either the Internal Auditor Practitioner or Lead Auditor Practitioner qualification pathway.
Course Description
Organizations rely on effective environmental management system (EMS) audits not only to evaluate conformity with ISO 14001:2026, but also to identify opportunities for continual improvement, strengthen environmental performance, and build confidence in their management systems. Skilled auditors must be able to plan, conduct, document, and report audits that deliver meaningful insights and add value to the organization. Those pursuing lead auditor responsibilities must also be able to effectively coordinate audit activities and support audit team performance. In this capstone, participants will apply these skills in a realistic audit environment using BSI Connect Plus, an online audit and inspection platform.
The ISO 14001:2026 Auditor Practitioner Capstone Course is the culminating course within the ISO 14001:2026 Internal Auditor Practitioner and Lead Auditor Practitioner qualification pathways. This highly interactive, application-focused course provides participants with the opportunity to integrate and demonstrate the knowledge and skills developed throughout their qualification pathway in a realistic audit scenario.
Working through an integrated case study, participants will use BSI Connect Plus to plan and document an environmental management system audit from planning through reporting. Participants will complete a series of practical activities, record audit evidence and findings, and develop audit conclusions and reports using the platform. A continual assessment throughout the course evaluates their ability to apply ISO 14001:2026 requirements, auditing principles, and audit practices in realistic situations. Participants pursuing the Lead Auditor Practitioner qualification will also be assessed on their ability to apply audit team leadership concepts where appropriate.
Successful completion of the capstone demonstrates the practical competence expected of an ISO 14001:2026 Auditor Practitioner and satisfies the capstone requirements of the applicable qualification pathway.
