The BSI Training Academy offers Qualification Pathways for those seeking to earn a qualification from an internationally recognized standards institute.

This pathway is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to achieve BSI’s prestigious Lead Auditor Practitioner qualification for the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard. It consists of two sequential courses: ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Requirements, which provides an in-depth understanding of the standard's framework; ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Lead Auditor, which focuses on developing auditing and leadership skills to coordinate a team to assess compliance effectively. Participants who complete both courses and successfully pass their respective qualification exams will earn a Practitioner qualification, symbolized by BSI’s “Mark of Trust” badge demonstrating their competency in leading audits for the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard. This pathway is ideal for practicing auditors committed to excelling in information security auditing, compliance, and leadership.

• Identify key concepts, principles, and structure of the ISO 27001 standard
• Recognize the terms and definitions used within an Information Security management system
• Describe the process of auditing an Information Security management system
• Recognize key audit activities and the roles and responsibilities within an audit team
• Complete all stages of leading an audit of an information security management system in accordance with ISO 19011
• Explain the role of a lead auditor to plan, conduct, report, and follow up an Information Security MS audit in accordance with ISO 19011 (and ISO 17021 where appropriate)
• Have the skills to plan, conduct, report, and follow up an audit of an ISMS to establish conformity (or otherwise) with ISO/IEC 27001/2, ISO 19011 (and ISO 17021 where appropriate)
• Coach others to perform an ISMS audit and leverage their individual skills and knowledge within an audit team

How will I learn?

This qualification pathway is divided into two separate courses. The first course, ISO 27001:2022 Requirements, will cover the ins and outs of the Information Security standard, and provide an essential foundation for the rest of your auditor training. The second course, ISO 27001:2022 Lead Auditor, walks you through the auditing process from start to finish, leveraging case study to help you apply your knowledge. Finally, the Advanced Auditor course will home in on auditor best practices and teach techniques and methods that will lead to more efficient and effective audits.

What will I gain?

On completion of the courses and after passing the two qualifications exams, you will earn BSI’s ISO 27001:2022 Lead auditor Practitioner qualification, including BSI’s Mark of Trust qualification badge, which you can share on your CV, emails, and social media sites such as LinkedIn.  

Delegate assessments

This qualification pathway contains 2 separate exams:

1. ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Requirements Qualifications Exam

(30 questions, 60 minutes)

2. ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Lead Auditor Qualifications Exam

(4 sections comprised of multiple-choice, short-answer, detailed-answer, and scenarios to review for nonconformities; 120 minutes total)

Online, open book, Pass mark: 70%. Delegates have 30 days from the end of the course to take the exam. 2 attempts are allowed (the initial exam + 1 free re-sit)

Further information

Delegates that complete the individual courses without passing the necessary qualifications exams will still earn receive certificates of attendance.

Course Materials

Soft Copy: You will receive an email prior to the course with instructions on how to access the online Student Handbook, which can be viewed, downloaded or printed.

NOTE: Copies of the standards are not included in the class fee.

BSI will make reasonable efforts to have loaner copies available for use during the class, but students are encouraged to have their own copy. Soft copies of the digital loaner standard cannot be printed or downloaded.
