The BSI Training Academy offers Qualification Pathways for those seeking to earn Practitioner qualification from an internationally recognized standards institute.
This qualification pathway is aimed towards those who wish to demonstrate a deeper and thorough understanding of collaborative BIM for managing project information. It consists of three sequential courses: BIM Fundamentals, BIM ISO 19650 Part 2: Project Delivery Phase, BIM BS 1192 Part 4: Handover Information Exchange, BIM ISO 19650 Part 5: Security and BIM, and BIM PAS 1192 Part 6: Health and Safety. Participants who complete all three courses and pass the respective exams will earn a Practitioner qualification symbolized by BSI’s “Mark of Trust” badge.
Earning this qualification will help you:
- Recognize the role of the Project Information Model and the need to maintain it
- Understand how to formulate Project Information Requirements (PIRs), Information Standards, and the appointment-specific Exchange Information Requirements (EIRs)
- Understand how to assess BIM capability, develop BIM Execution Plans and information delivery plans
- Work through the key information management processes in group activities
- Make decisions about information schema and format and the criteria for checking
- Prove to your management, organization, and clientele that you have been recognized as a competent individual who knowledgeable of collaborative BIM for managing project information
- Add value to your personal CV/resume and elevate your career as a BIM Practitioner
By the end of this qualification pathway, you will be able to:
- Explain the value of information through all stages of a project and asset lifecycle
- Explain why BIM is a determining factor for delivering projects on time and without waste and inefficiencies
- Explain what the ISO 19650-2 standard says and what it means
- Define how key information management documents are developed
- Identify how designers and contractors are expected to show their BIM capability to their prospective clients
- Understand how to start applying ISO 19650-2 to your projects
- Use ISO 19650 Part 4 for information requirements and delivery documentation
- Understand the factors in choosing software, schemas and formats
- Check information exchanges
Who should attend?
Anyone adopting BIM Implementation into their organization, their own work practices, or helping their clients or supply chains to adopt it. Construction and asset management Practitioners (project managers, asset managers, designers, constructors, manufacturers, maintenance contractors, information managers).
Delegates entering for this qualification are likely to already have some industry experience of using collaborative BIM processes and/or tools, however this is not a prerequisite.

How will I learn?
This qualification comprises three mandatory courses and assessments. You must complete 100% of the qualification pathway within one year.
What will I gain?
On completion of the courses and after passing the three qualifications exams, you will earn BSI’s BIM Project Information Practitioner qualification, including BSI’s Mark of Trust qualification badge, which you can share on your CV, emails, and social media sites such as LinkedIn.
Further information
Delegates that complete the individual courses without passing the necessary qualifications exams will still earn receive certificates of attendance.
